NYU had a pressing business need to update The Virtual College. The Virtual College is the web application that is used to conduct and deliver online courses for NYU SCPS. The current application platform was Docent LMS 5.0.0. SCPS wanted to port the application to a J2EE platform.

NorthPoint analyzed and documented NYU’s current logic, algorithms, SQL queries and database structures. Following analysis and optimal utilization, NorthPoint ported the application to a J2EE platform. After system completion, NorthPoint developed a method for testing the application at a given level of request per second.

With the NorthPoint solution NYU was able to avoid expensive software licensing costs, while also increasing scalability, performance, utilization and reliability. NorthPoint’s rebuild improved the application architecture and ensured ease of maintenance.
